Q. Do you have free lessons?
A. You’re probably confusing my site with web-based fixed lessons. I actually provide one-on-one personal tuition by a qualified Italian tutor. Hence, my prices are similar to private face-to-face lessons.
Q. Who will be teaching me?
A. Myself, Irma Zanini Skeeles. I don’t hire any other tutors at the moment, or ‘outsource’! Rest assured, all the recommendations you see are for the person who’ll be teaching you, too!
Q. What level do you teach to?
A. Any level you want. I’m a native Italian with two degrees in tuition, and have extensive experience in teaching students from basic holiday phrases, to degree level cramming.
Q. Can you arrange exams?
A. Yes – I have arranged exams at GCSE, A/AS-level, and can arrange these for you directly with the examining board.

Q. Do you have any lessons or exercises online that I can look at?
A. Since the lessons are personalised, there’s no ‘generic’ lesson. The best way for you to gain an idea of what’s involved is to book a Trial Lesson. Or you can email me for more information, and I can send you samples.
Q. Can I have a free trial lesson?
A. You can have a trial lesson, but unfortunately not free; I have offered free lessons in the past, but I was rushed off my feet with requests!
Q. Will I have to commit to a full course of lessons?
A. Not as such – I won’t tie you into a lesson plan, and the benefit of online lessons is that they’re flexible! However, I do have schedules and other students, so once you’re a full-time student, we will book a series of lessons at a time which will be paid in advance. You’re certainly welcome to take breaks or holidays, but I’d expect you’d want to take lessons regularly enough to procress.
Q. What equipment do I need?
A. You almost certainly have everything you need already. If you’re reading this, you’re on the internet. Skype is a popular free ‘Internet Phone’ program that you have likely heard about, and GoToMeeting installs via your web browser. The only thing you may not have is a headset – which greatly improve audio quality (you’re learning a language, remember!). You can buy these very cheaply from almost anywhere.
Q. Can I learn on a Mac?
A. Certainly. Skype and GoToMeeting support both Macs and PCs.
Q. Will I need any textbooks?
A. For short courses, we can send you the sample texts and exercises you need over the Internet. If you intend to study a full course, particularly one leading to an examination, I’ll suggest any textbooks or course texts that you require.
